Ayisha. She’s one of those people with whom a typical encounter leaves you with a crazy happy energy boost. Ayisha & Matt brought their great smiles and energy into our planning world along with a heavy hitting list of very specific design likes. No wonder with Ayisha’s own design background, that this journey became one of my favorites of the year. Inspired by the moody backdrop depicted in the book The Night Circus, we formulated a plan to transform the stark industrial backdrop of the NCM into their sparkling version. A repetitive theme of vertical strands representing celestial night sky is incorporated into invitations, menus, signage, the massive ceremony installation and a light wall. The black and white color palette plays with the yellow-y ambient lighting in every space of the venue. Dramatic long reception tables are kept modern with repetitive lines of black glossy plates and elegant floral vignettes. The mood was downright dreamy. They summarized the night best when she wrote to us “Walking into the reception nearly took my breath away, the flowers, the candles, the twinkle lights, the black chairs and plates against the white tables- I wish I could have lived in that magical museum forever.” Us too.
