Dreaming of a White Christmas

December 22, 2015   |   Posted in: ,

I geek out over setting pretty tables, so when December rolls round my inner Martha starts gearing up for goodness. When I started brainstorming ideas for elaborate holiday shoot locations, it just became clear to me, why wouldn’t I host the holiday party where I am the happiest in the world. The place where I actually host countless dinners all year round So, welcome to my own home as I get ready for a Christmas dinner party…

We decked the halls of my Bankers Hill home and filled the table to the brim with gorgeous details that can be sourced in local stores to inspire your own holiday setting (source list to follow). I started with a soft muted palette including shades of grays, whites, silvery greens, accented with copper metal. A little greedy with my love for candlelight and for grand cool funky textured arrangements, I styled the same table + settings with two very different centerpiece looks. Look 1- includes a table filled with a bed of silver greenery and sparkling with soft gray taper candles. There’s a certain magic in the simplicity of candle light. Dreamy, ethereal, and mood changing when twilight hits. Look 2- we showcase a show stopper centerpiece filled with textural flowers including protea, cotton branches, white berries, and evergreen. The same settings take a definite turn to a dramatic, romantic holiday look.

Place settings include glossy white plates topped with hand foiled copper accented place cards, flatware added a touch of modern with the copper and white mix. A hodgepodge of glassware comes from my own cabinets. All of our paper goods embrace the gray, white, and copper palette even including a pattern reminiscent of flurried snow speckled with white and copper foil.

Guests at my parties always get greeted with a drink, for this one a hot chocolate that may or may not be turned into a hot tottie (always a hot tottie for me). Drool worthy cakes get the special treatment decorated with the abundant holiday greenery.

Truly the season for merry making, thanks for taking a peek at my little piece of the holiday world. Wishing you a beautiful holiday filled with love, magic and joy!

Luxe Wedding: Christina & Bryan

When Christina & Bryan found us they had been battered by the quest to find a perfect venue. Their wish list? Fresh, quirky, off-the-beaten-path, large enough to host a large guest count, but also able to serve fabulous food, not too much to look for eh? The groom actually stumbled upon the answer over happy hour one day at Green Acres. After chatting through with us we signed them up as the first ever wedding at Green Acres Campus Point. The foodie farm-to-table venue was the jumping off point for the design. Christina & Bryan have a fabulous sense of adventure for design and let us run with an unusually dramatic color palette of black, white, navy, with pops of pink and coral, accented with tons of natural greenery. With peony season in full effect, this wedding dazzles with peonies galore. We chose to play up the food elements and included an escort card wall of pears, mango place settings, and turnips in the centerpieces. The venue included some pieces of eclectic furniture we added to our carefully curated additional tables and chairs. We styled up the tables bistro-style with black and white pin stripes napkins, table linens, and covered some tables in black butcher block paper. The vibe fell somewhere between a gastro pub, West Elm, and Anthropologie. The mood was set for an amazing party (which was definitely had), but nothing matched up to this adorable couple who is so completely in love and ready for their new life together, that as I type this are already preparing for their first baby!
