This table design is sparked by the essence of nautical east coast style with a hip Californian twist. I chose a classic color palette of navy, white and gold. Fresh perks of fuschia and yellow are added to brighten the floral palette. Glamorous finishes elevate the look from the glossy white lacquer table to the gold embellishments and finishes on table accessories.

Subtle nods to the theme are found in nautical curiosities layered upon the table settings. Including; marine specimen jars containing shells found during exotic boating journeys doubling as place cards, lanterns holding rope tied pillar candles and a gold enameled driftwood candelabra. Crab cracker tags and a whale shaped menu add a touch of coastal whimsy. Gold finished “found” objects and metal cage lanterns are filled to the brim with anenome, hydrangea, roses, acacia and ranunculas. The heady white flowers look crisp and bright against the bayside backdrop. A super amazing team made the Nautical Glam design come together including; Organic Elements, Brightly Designed, and Concepts.

We heart Exquisite Weddings magazine, and always feel super honored to be asked to participate in designing a tabletop for their publication. We highly recommend running out and buying the full magazine in all its glory.

Soft shades of peach were grounded with earthy greens, moss, succulents, and fiddle ferns. A lush garden ceremony turned magical with the beautiful bagpipes in the background. The elegant reception was set with mauve linens, copper chargers, mossy garden pots and vases accented with brilliant peach and pink flowers. A serious dance party broke out from the moment the doors opened and lasted late through the night with the musical stylings of the amazing Wayne Foster Band.

Kari & Matt have an extremely fresh sense of style, drawn to vibrant colors and modern patterns. So we set out to design a wedding layered in colorful bold patterns. We let go of traditional ideas of what “matches” and became playful with the design choices. Once we embraced this concept the plan fell into place. The patterns were brought to center stage through unique wedding elements. Enlisting Brightly Designed to take our decor to the next level, she designed super-cool placemats including quotes from favorite songs. Each table had one of the three patterned placemats. In addition we added paper vase wraps for the centerpieces. The pattern and color story carried through from guest book poster, signature drink flags, hanging tissue balls, dangling ceremony flowers, signage above the head table, vase wraps, placemats, lighting, linens and that wow-factor cake. The end result was a wedding so very Kari and Matt- bold and beautiful.

In the spirit of the “upper east side visits the Hamptons” we teamed up with a great cast of vendors to create our Irreverent Preppy fashion shoot. The styling of the shoot, from fashion to decor, embraced the concept of high fashion glam with a quirky edge. The colors included charcoal, french blue, saffron, peony and coral. The color story carries through from the stripes on the invitations, to the florals and table linens.

We enlisted the inspiring minds from Blush Botanicals, Brightly Designed and She Wanders Photography to help us capture the look of a soft and serene totally glam winter scene.

In lieu of a traditional holiday color scheme we chose a wintery palette of grays, silver, white, and blush. The result is a setting worthy of a gourmet Christmas dinner or a chic wedding tabletop any time of year.

“All is Calm, All is Bright” just felt right to express the mood for our holiday table.

I am a little obsessed with fluffy white feathers softening the look of holiday décor this year. We incorporated feathers into elements of our tabletop from napkin tucks, name tag wreaths, and even the flowers.

Those amazing peonies, roses and hydrangea are downright dreamy dangling along with crystals and votives.

My wedding style:
Our wedding style was vintage-chic with clean lines, vintage touches, and romantic elements.

My wedding inspiration:
Romantic lighting was a big inspiration in our wedding.  Market lights and tons of candles were important to that!   We also toured L’Auberge Hotel and really liked their decor, so we tried to bring their French Chic style into our wedding.

How we made the wedding “us”:
We made our wedding us by including certain traditional elements that were important to us. For example, not seeing each other on our wedding day until the ceremony, writing our vows together, and having the groom’s father marry us were all important. We also chose a venue setting that fit our style. We both love the outdoors, so we chose a venue that allowed us to have the whole event outside.

My favorite decor detail:
We loved all of the decor details at the wedding.  The draped sheer fabric surrounding our beach setting really set a dramatic and romantic mood with the market lights overhead.  However, the most touching decor elements were the small detailed ones.  Hand painted vases, vintage picture frames hung above our sweetheart table, and vintage-chic furniture placed in romantic corners in our reception truly made the decor stunning.

Our favorite moment of the wedding day was right as dinner was being served.  We were sitting at our sweetheart table and looking around at all of our family and friends, surrounded by the beautiful decor.  We knew this night would pass by fast so we took a moment to take it all in.  That moment surrounded by such love and beauty at the same time was so perfect.

I arranged a business lunch this week and chose to take colleagues to one of my favorites, Cucina Urbana.

If the retail store Anthroplogie morphed into a restaurant this would be its foodie incarnation.   Both vintage and glamorous it’s the perfect setting for an ambient lunch amongst friends, a romantic dinner with your hunny or a completely amazing inspiration source for vintage wedding and home décor.   Oh, did I mention the food is amazing?  Truffle fries, yes please.

Relaxed…yet, sophisticated, “us”

Our wedding style:
Not fancy, but with a touch of elegance; understated yet amazing. We wanted our guests to feel at home and inspired by the beautiful surroundings.

Our wedding inspiration:
The location, it spoke for itself, so everything else just had to compliment it and enhance the beauty.

How we made the wedding “us”:
Making sure we had some of our favorite things – stone ipa on tap served in a pint glass, happy hour, great food, and writing our own vows.

My favorite decor detail:
The lights in the bottom of the pool after sunset, the Manzanita branches with flowers and candles, the succulents in the flower arrangements.

My favorite moment:
The ceremony. It is all sort of a blur – your mind and heart are racing but it is one of the most real moments of your life, pledging your love to your best friend. Just the two of us on a stage in front of our best friends and family.

I play with colors all day long.  A perfect day for me is sitting amongst hundreds of linen samples and pantone chips dreaming up the next wedding design.  Inspiration can be sparked from any element of my day, from ambient restaurant decor to a bougainvillea branch peeking through the office window.

Cara happens to adore organizing details.  She is the queen of coordination and orchestrating perfect weddings is second nature for her.  We both immerse ourselves in the important details, big and small, that make a wedding tick perfectly.

Over the years we have shared this passion for meticulous planning and all things gorgeous through emails, inspiration boards, parties and meetings.  Not a soul would call Cara or I shy.  Yet, its only today that Luxe Events embarks on our new blogging adventure.  We are so ready to divulge our sparks and musings!

There will be lots to come on the blog with the introduction of our new logo and website, office renovation, many recent wonderful weddings, exciting trends and much more. We are thrilled and inspired at the many-shared moments to come.  Thanks for tuning in…we look forward to getting to know you as we share our beautiful world of weddings with you.
